Mark of Baldness

Yes, I broke down and got this mark. I'm a mark whore, I won't deny that. Anyway, this mark is available for anyone with the money to spend to get it. In the north side of Lowangen, there is a hidden north exit that leads to Dargon Road. On this road there are a handful of shops, such as the clan shop, the flying carpet shop, and the pilomancer. When you enter the pilomancer's shop, she will ask you if you want to do something about your hair. Look at the sign in the shop and give her the amount that corresponds to hair removal. She will then take the hairstyle line off of your description and you will receive the mark of baldness.

If you want your hair back at some point, pay her the amount for hair restoration. I believe that should work. In the mean time, enjoy not having a tangled mess as a hairstyle.

To update, I had this mark revoked when I purchased the hair restoration from the pilomancer. I hope to try for the mark of permanence sometime in the future.

Mark of Barrier

This mark is given to adventurers for consulting with Lonasil in Lowangen about their personality type. For a fee of 250 tourms, she will give you a reading. When she talks to you, say yes, to indicate that you would like a reading. Then, give her the 250 tourms. Once she has 250 tourms (and she will update you as to how many she has received from time to time,) she will ask you for an honest assessment of your behaviour. If you want the mark of Barrier, reply defensive, and if you want the mark of Assault, reply offensive. Easy. The hard part will be finding room to carry all those tourmalines.

To my knowledge, you may get your reading done as many times as you want, but you may only have either assault or barrier at any time.

You give a black tourmaline to Losanil the Judicious.
'That is the 250 tourmalines I require, Lantis.' Losanil the Judicious says to you. 'Now, I require an honest assessment of yourself:'
'Would you say that you are more suited to offensive or defensive behavior?' Losanil the Judicious asks you.

You say, 'Defensive'
'Defensive' you say to Losanil the Judicious.
For being given an accurate assessment of your combat preferences, the Powers have granted thee a Mark.
You have been granted Barrier!
Losanil the Judicious nods at you.
'You are indeed, Lantis.' Losanil the Judicious says to you. 'That is very sage.'
Losanil the Judicious breaks eye contact with you, her assessment finished.

Marks of Beginning, Expedition, and Return

With the addition of these three marks, there are now nine marks you can get before you take more than one step out of Lasler. This is kind of overkill for an area, in my opinion, but let the free practices keep rolling in.

I didn't take logs of these, because I was being lazy, but as I recall, you can receive all of these marks just for leaving the school, traveling through the valley between the school and Lasler, and finally exiting Lasler through the north side.

In practice, it won't be quite that seamless, as you will probably get the marks for leaving the school and entering Lasler before you are a high enough level to earn your graduation from Lasler into the world of Alyria.

Mark of Belief

Formerly a version of the mark of faith, since all marks were disambiguated, this task is now known as the mark of belief. It is available to adventurers levels 10 to 110.

All that is required for this mark is to visit the smiling angel that is in front of the onyx doors in Rune Cemetary. It sounds easier than it is. I would recommend getting someone bigger to help you with this.

Presently, there are two ways of getting to the guardian angel. The first way is the old way which is the most difficult route:

First, you will need to kill Zakarius in Rune Cemetary's church and get his key. This key opens the locked door in the cemetary on the north west side. Through the door, enter the sarcophagus. In the area within the sarcophagus, there are many aggro mobs that can be difficult for low level adventurers. On the west side of this area, there is a wall you need to dig at to get through, so make sure you bring a spade and pick axe.

Once you are through the wall, the angels and the onyx doors are at the end of the path to the north. If you kill the smiling angel, she drops a key that unlocks the onyx doors and leads out to a hidden area behind the caretaker's house. So, if you have a friend, have them do all the killing inside the sarcophagus and digging and wait outside the onyx doors. Once they open them, you can enter from the other side and visit the angel that way.

The second method of getting to the guardian angel is to go into the garden/backyard area behind the caretaker's house, and search along the south perimeter until you discover the hidden area. Follow the path south to the onyx doors, and then go southeast to get to the area behind the doors. This is a one way entrance to this area, so once you are inside, the only way to get out will be to kill the guardian angel to get the key to unlock the doors and let yourself back out, or make your way through the area (past the aggro mobs) and leave through the exit on the east side of the area.

Mark of Bravery

This mark is given to youthful adventurers, of level 100 and under, who are brave, and precocious, enough to attempt to cross the moat to get to the Proving Grounds, and lucky, strong, and resourceful enough to make it to a particular room in the moat.

First, you will need to cross the reef. Starting at (1268, 748) follow these directions to get into Irda Isle:

E NE E SE 2E 7NE NW W 2NE 5NW W 2N NW 2N 2NW 6NE SE N 2NE 6N NE N NE 5N 3NE N 2NE 4N

Next, travel from the entrance of the area to the drop off, following these direction:.

3E NE E 2NE 3N 3E N 4E 2N 2W N 8W 12N 5S 16E 6N

Then, make sure you have some means of levitation before you do the next aspect. Also, you can not use speed walks for this portion as aggressive mobs will attack you, and if you do not precisely follow the directions, you could easily end up walking into a death trap.

2D 3N E 2N 3W 3S W S W S W S W 2E S W S W 2S W N W

Once you are standing before the moat, use the following directions to get to the particular room you need to get the mark of Bravery.

All W, All N, All W, then south until you are one room before non-pk room.
Kill a shadowspawn for an ivy-covered key. Search for the door to PG in this room, and unlock door to enter.

There are many aggressive mobs in the moat, and potentially aggressive players as well, so at level 100 or below, you will most likely need to just dash and flee through the moat until you get to the safe room.

Once you get to the safe room, you will receive the mark. You can not flee into this room and get the mark. You must walk in.

From there, you can either continue on into the proving grounds, if you are able, or just run straight south into the death trap at the end of the moat, and wait to reincarnate at the Irda Isle area recall.

Mark of Brotherhood

I couldn't sleep last night, so I just stayed up and played Moongate until morning. Although I was trying to get the Mark of Brotherhood for the last several days, and it seemed to be broken, I was not expecting to get both the marks of rites and brotherhood on the same day.

The Mark of Brotherhood is obtainable by anyone aside from a few requirements. To get this mark you must be either an outlaw (negative reputation) or possessing at least a -350 alignment. Also, it is alleged that you must be male. This is one of the few easy marks I hadn't completed yet because my alignment and reputation are normally very good. I had to wait to do this until I worked my alignment down by killing good mobs like monks and the residents of Seelie Castle.

For this mark, go to Pirate's Cove, and board the ship in Treasure Bay (NPK area on north side of the city.) Locate the captain while visible.

The captain of the pirates is here going over his log.
The pirate captain says, 'Arr, Lantis, ye looks like ye'd be a fine addition to our merry crew.'
The pirate captain exclaims, 'What say ye, wouldst ye like to join our band o' miscreants!'
The pirate captain chortles with glee.

'Yes' you say to the pirate captain.
'Arr.' the pirate captain says. 'Those scurrilous curs, the crew of the Marauding Succubus, have plundered our treasure room.'
'They took twee treasure chests, a gold and a silver.' the pirate captain says.
'The gold one be gone, I fear.' the pirate captain says. 'Thar silver, be within the
Cove somewhere, but whereabouts I know not. Return it to we intact, and ye'll be rewarded heartily!'
The pirate captain chortles with glee.

The silver treasure chest was already in the same room as the captain, so I picked it up. I walked out and back in. The chest can scatter anywhere in Pirate's Cove though including the Baron's mansion, Treasure Bay, inside the shops or in the jail.

'Arr, the chest!' the pirate captain exclaims. 'Ye dids it!'
The pirate captain exclaims, 'Get yeself over to Talekh, 'e'll set ye up proper!'
The pirate captain takes a solid-silver treasure chest from you, drops it, and kicks it through a hidden hatch in the door.

Talekh is nearby, but downstairs in the ship. When you get to his room he has the chest open. There are several items in the chest, though non of them very good for a 240. You are permitted to take one item, not all.

A one-eyed pirate stands here, chortling at you.
Talekh drops a solid-silver treasure chest, and kicks it open.
'Take yeer pick, Lantis.' Talekh says. 'Ye're one o' us now.'
For helping out your pirate brethren, the Powers have granted thee a Mark.
You have been granted the Mark of Brotherhood!

After that, I believe you must give the item you took back to its rightful owner if you want the bonus increase to your reputation.
