This mark requires you to have a kind alignment of at least 101, and at least 16 personality. Located in Cavhfail on the Faerie Plane. This is a second class mark, and it is obtainable at level 120. Locate Esther McGlodden in the McGlodden home inside Cavhfail. Being visible, enter and exit the McGlodden home until she asks you to rescue her son, Grora, from the Cavhfail keep, and say yes. Some of the business people in Cavhfail will talk to you, and give you clues about the password to the back door to Cavhfail keep, if you are wearing trainee guard's uniform and are visible to them. Four different NPCs will each give you a portion of the pass phrase. They are Hocus the witch (who will ask if you forgot it,) Duskforge (who demands tea a.k.a. a tall drink which you can buy from the LPK bar,) the armorer, and Loreclyg? When you have all the pieces the pass phrase should look like this example: alpha-bravo-charlie-victor. To use the pass phrase to open the back door located in the center upstairs room in the Fangtooth Inn. You must say the password in the middle upstairs room to get the trap door to unlock. (Edit: It used to be the easternmost upstairs room, but I believe it was changed to work on the middle upstairs room where the door is. Much less confusing that way, if you ask me.) Once you're through the door, there is a series of hidden rooms that you can get to by walking through illusionary walls. I recommend getting invisible before you proceed any further as the Cavhfail sentries will attack you. The room you exit into will be just one room away from Gilcrest, who may boot you from Cavhfail Keep if he sees you freeing Grora, so be careful not to enter that room once you have him. Travel down the hall to the north and northwest until you get to an UP. Go up and you will be outside the barracks that Grora McGlodden repops in. He is sleeping when you enter, so wake him up. Tell him 'rescue' and he will ask who sent you to rescue him. Tell him 'mother' and he will ask if his mother sent you to rescue him. Tell him 'yes' and he will form with you. You must lead him back down the hidden hall, and out of the keep. Then, deliver Grora back to his mother's house and he will leave your formation. At this point, I recommend getting someone to charm Grora to follow you, if you haven't already done so. Once Grora is following you enter and exit the McGlodden home until you get the mark. This may need to be done countless times before you are awarded the mark.
This mark was some what tricky in my opinion. You must kill the buff volcano spirit in Decara with 90% of your stats (hit points, spell points, and stamina) remaining when you strike the killing blow. This mark is available to third, fourth, and archon classes. You must have at least 1800 hit points to gain entrance to the area. You may use equipment to boost your hit points to that number. First, you must get to the underground of Alyria. This can be done in several ways. You can wait until a world gate to Decara opens, sail a boat through the whirlpool, use a plane travel potion or some other means of plane traveling, or cross Hellbent. Illyria and I crossed Hellbent. Half way through an archon hunter rifted to her, so we had to kill that first. It was a perilous journey since neither of us was completely sure where we were going, but we got through in one piece. And being with Illyria kept us from being pk'd along the way. Considering how many times I've died on the second basement floor of Hellbent, I was surprised how easy the last two floors were getting to the Underground. Then we had to walk through the treacherous aggro-mobbed wilderness of the Underground to get to Decara. And once we gained entry to the city by bribing the gate guard, we found the pit with the volcano spirit (it is all north of the center of town.) After we both died once we were joined by Nepsis who agreed to help us. So it took two archons healing me while I tanked the volcano spirit to get the job done. Once he was near death I rested up my sp, stamina, and hp. Then I went back in, this time I was unformed, and I couldn't cast anything because my spell points would drop below 90%, and I couldn't bash the volcano spirit either because that would make my stamina go down fast. So I just had to attack him and let Illyria and Nepsis spam healing spells on me. And in the end got him.
Mark of Celebrity - Atrascus the King Crab mini Ordinarily, I wouldn't bother writing about a novice mini, but since this one is still pretty new since Lasler was remodeled and I'm not sure there is a guide for it yet, I will. I recently discovered that there is a mark for this as well as some other rewards. Available in Lasler, this mini can have multiple parts if you do all the side quests to obtain all the related items. First, there are three distinct NPC in the valley between the school and Lasler village: a novice lutomancer, a down-on-her-luck ogre gypsy, and a grieving mother. It doesn't matter what order you visit these NPCs, but they will each give you a side quest to do. For the lutomancer, you must slay one of the little girls in the village and return to him a rag doll that it drops. As a reward, he will give you a well-used inhaler that casts the spell 'underwater breathing' on you so that you can breathe underwater when you go to fight Atrascus. He likes to try to drown you, so this is very helpful against that attack. The down-on-her-luck ogre gypsy is upset that no one wants to buy her fortunes and enlists you to kill three competing gypsies in the village. When you return to her, she will reward you with a gypsy's spear that will do 100 damage to Atrascus at a frequency of 10% per round. The grieving mother is distraught over the loss of her husband and daughter, I think, and you need to go into the caverns of Lasler and confront the xorn that is hiding there. As you are beating him up, he will probably flee and drop a portrait. He may not drop it. Return the portrait to the grieving mother to receive a swirling crimson orb that will heal you for 10 hp/sp/st at a rate of 25% per round when fighting Atrascus. Once you have all the helpful gear, go out into the wilds and look around on the ground for a couple bits of faerie dust. These clumps of glittering powder will cast levitation on you so that you can get out to the middle of the lake. The lake to the east of Lasler in the valley is where Atrascus lives. His room is marked with a blue O in the middle of the lake. He is not aggressive, so he will not attack you first. He is buff though and does a lot of damage with his bash and poison breath. Best of luck!
Did you know that you can be rewarded for killing him just for being in the room when he dies? It won't give you the mark, but you will get experience points. This mark is formerly a version of the mark of faith. All marks have been disambiguated now though, so this task became its own distinct mark. This mark is available to levels 180 to 241. You receive it by completing a task for a venerable druid in Xaventry. You will need a symbol of Gath, a symbol of Maradas, a symbol of Vandyne, a symbol of Dira, and a symbol of Ithrilis which you can obtain from doing the temple runs in Xaventry or purchasing them from someone else at the bazaar. Arrive before him while wearing a symbol of Vandyne, and you will probably need to have the others in your inventory, and he will speak to you.
He locks you in to the stone room. Inside this room are 5 boxes (red, yellow, black, blue, and transparent) - one for each of the Powers (Gath, Dira, Maradas, Ithrilis, and Vandyne.) Put each symbol you have brought with you in its respective box. Here is an example:
When you have all five symbols in their correct boxes, you will receive the mark, and be transported back to Xaventry recall.
At some point, I hope to post my own walk throughs for the temples in Xaventry, but I need more experience first. I have been waiting since last year to get this mark. Last year, the St. Patrick's day global, I must have gotten a late start and I wasn't able to fill the requirements for getting the mark in the time I had... I ended up selling my red shard at the eleventh hour for 25 RU. This year, I was hoping really hard that there would be another chance for me to get this mark, but I heard no word of it until a few hours before it was scheduled. Charms is available to any level, and is a global mark. So, get it now before they decide not to stop having a St. Patrick's day global. To receive this mark you must collect 7 different colored shards of light: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. The red are the most rare of the shards. Once you obtain a set of seven and have them all in your inventory, put the red one into a bag and then bring it back out again. The red one will react to the other six and they will join. Also, I have heard that turning in all seven shards to the appropriate global mob will cause him to give you the orb.
In order to get the mark you must hold and use the orb. The prismatic orb will transport you to a special global area called the end of the rainbow maze. A brief introduction will be given about what you can expect to find in the end of the rainbow maze... You may simply stop at the beginning room and pick up as much gold as you can up to nearly 2 million, or you can run the maze and try to get to the end... or try for both. Either way, the maze is going to collapse in a very short ten seconds, so some preparation is recommended before you use the orb. If you want to be able to pick up the 2 million gold, you need to have several free stones of weight available. That means dropping into a safe place all the things you will not need in the maze. You can also max your strength with enhanced strength to allow you to carry more weight. Furthermore, I would recommend you make an event or a trigger to pick up all the gold, which will only work if you have the strength to carry it all, but will make it possible for you to grab the gold and run for the end of the maze, if you want to try doing both. If you are going to run the maze, you should do so levitated. The first time I tried getting through the maze, I slipped on the rainbow, and it killed my ten seconds. Next, be aware that ten seconds goes by very quickly so be prepared as soon as you can to dash! You may run into a dizzy room. If that happens, you possibly won't get the mark, so be willing to try again. If you do reach the end of the rainbow you will receive the mark. Sometimes there is also a pack of cards sitting there that can be sold on auction as a novelty item for about 400k.
Not much to getting this mark. All you have to do is visit the Chromatic Dragon. As far as I know at this point, that is all. I have no evidence that there are any other requirements.
Fairly easy mark that requires travelling to various locations in Alyria and the Underground and bringing 27 different types of alcohol to Rhakelle, the town drunk of Gilvery. Most bars in Alyria have at least a few different kinds of alcohol. You may need to read the item descriptions of the offered drinks to determine which type of alcohol is in the container. Here is a list of the 27 types you need: absinthe, ale, aquavit, beer, benedictine-wine, blood-alcohol, brandy, champagne, chardonnay, cordial, dark-ale, elvish-wine, firebreather, framboise, icewine, local-speciality, mead, red-wine, rose-wine, rum, schnapps, sherry, slime-mold-juice, unusual-liquid. vodka, whisky, and white-wine Initially I believed that eggnog and bordeaux were on the list since those are alcoholic for sure, unlike slime-mold-juice and unusual liquid. But those were both difficult for me to obtain (never did get the bordeaux,) but after eggnog failed during the Yule season, I decided to reexamine the list of available liquids and try some unconventional beverages. You give a goblet full of a peculiar substance to Rhakelle, Gilvery's home town drunk. Available to adventurers of second class through archon class, this mark is thankfully not difficult. The adventurer seeking this mark must obtain a belt of pain, either by killing an allegedly annoying mob that drops in the maelstrom, or buy purchasing it for generally 150k, but prices may range from anywhere between half that much to twice that much. Then take the belt of pain to Dungeon Deceit recall, otherwise known as Quenya Stardust's Shop. Go into Quenya's room and she will beseech you to let her remove your pain. Give her the belt and receive the mark. I used a word of recall scroll instead of running though Dungeon Deceit, which is largely NPK. When I was done I recalled out to my home. Piece of cake, basically.
I obtained this mark after I received the mark of divination, which may be required. I traveled through an NPK/CPK passage from the above ground in Xaventry town square to the new sigil underground. When I reached the other side, I was let out at the north side of a strip of wilderness that alternated terrain type in blocks, like a rainbow colored strip. My description is probably crap, but the point is, I went directly south from the exit of the passage and eventually ran into Mariquesh. You will need to levitate or float to get over the lava rooms near the beginning.
This is one of the easier marks to get, and I believe it is available to anyone. You must retrieve a coconut from Arcane and give it to an orc mob in Rune Forest. To get the coconut you must levitate to the island that is in the middle of the Arcane Ocean (a body of water inside the area.) The island has 9 heads on it (one in each room) and a palm tree in the center. In order to obtain the coconut you must make all the head fall asleep by singing them a lullaby. The trick though is that when you sing a lullaby to one of the heads it makes two or more adjacent heads wake up. Be careful when moving between rooms on this tiny island because you can easily fall off the edge and have to walk all the way around past the merman again. This costs valuable time and stamina. Although you only have one hour in game time to get all of the heads asleep, you may try again immediately. There used to be a 2 day waiting period, but not anymore. Once you have managed to get the heads asleep, pull on the tree (not the frond/leaf) and the tree will drop the coconut that you need. Take the coconut to Rune Forest and give it to the orc when the mob asks for it.
This afternoon, while I was hunting for scatters, I happened to trigger the mini quest that begins in Lowangen at Sorina's. I previously had this mark in the mini quest section under Sorina, McGiles and Ahab. Some times this mini quest triggers, but most times it does not. It might have to do with the time. It was Saturday morning MM time when Sorina spoke to me.
Then, of course, you go to Tellerium to visit McGiles who says:
and sends you running off to Pirate's Cove to talk to Ahab, who says:
You will to give to Ahab, 1 decanter of endless water and half-eaten tubers found in the Underground totaling sixty pounds of weight. I figured out that each tuber weighs 4 pebbles or .4 pounds. So, I needed to gather 150 tubers. It is possible that Ahab asks for random amounts of tubers, or that the amount he asks for has gone up. The first time I triggered this mini quest he only wanted twenty pounds. Gathering 150 tubers was freaking ridiculous. First, the tubers seem to only be found in the CPK areas of the Underground, and even there they are sparse. Second, it takes a lot longer looking for them then you would think because annoying aggro mobs keep attacking you which slows you down. I had to look in a lot of rooms to get that many tubers together. When I finally had all the tubers I needed, I went back to Ahab who accepted all of tubers even though I didn't give them all to him at once, and gave me a barrel of Ahab's finest. I took the barrel and lugged it to Tellerium, and gave it to McGiles. McGiles swapped the liquor for a scroll.
I then delivered the scroll to Sorina to complete my task.
So, although it was a ton of work, and I never want to do it again, I did get a pretty good reward: a sweet decanter of endless vodka, practices, and archon points. This is an archon mark, and kind of time consuming, that is greatly rewarding. The premise of the mark is that a thief has stolen the 18 diamonds from Muldar Lohk Mulvar, and you must help the wizard in getting them back from the 18 locations where the thief has been selling them (1 in each place) before the Baron in Muldar Lohk Mulvar notices. The diamonds are found randomly as you are killing NPCs in the specified areas, and they can drop from any NPC, so kill them all. This will probably need to be done multiple times in each area, which is why it is so time consuming. When you are done, return to the wizard for your reward. The areas you need to massacre are Colyon, Dorathon, Emperor's Crossroad, Glarshak, Gorth, Hill Giant's Refuge, Inn of the Twin Moons, Jalur, Mulakanathos, Muldar Lohk Mulvar, Naulitas, Palamire, Shlarksh, Tavern of Boars, Teolaven, Traveller's Retreat, Winton, and Xalt. For ceaselessly working to help an old wizard keep his life, the Powers have granted thee a Mark. Apparently it really is re-enabled. I'd heard a rumor of course, but mark information has a way for being somewhat inaccurate most of the time. To obtain this mark, you must go to the hut of Baba Yaga in Rune with someone, not formed. One person goes up and the other stays downstairs to say the phrase 'hut of brown stand up' to the black cat. The person trapped in the room will receive the mark. To let the person out say 'hut of brown sit down' and the room will open. It is now operating somewhat differently from when I received this mark. Now you must wait an unknown period of time, and it can only be obtained once per pop of the black cat. If you are not having success, try killing the cat and waiting for it to repop. If you are still without luck, try coming back at another time. There seem to be no level requirements for this mark.
To receive this mark, win a game of chess. I have heard that it does not award the mark every time, so it may be random. I got this from playing with Krypt, who told me he would let me win since he had already received the mark and I am so terrible at chess in real life. In order to keep the game going for at least 30 moves, I turned it into a challenge by turning the objective of the game on its head. How difficult could I make it for Krypt to lose? So I just kept putting my pieces in suicidal positions, until the game got to 30 moves anyway, then we ended it. For the thought put into your victory, the Powers have granted thee a Mark. This is a seasonal quest mark. To receive this mark, you need to complete the quest "Lady Saresyn Day" from Lord Agrippa between January 27 and February 14. This quest is a multi phase quest that requires you to complete 6 other phase quests, including at least one from every quest master. Not every Saresyn seasonal quest is a required phase quest. Some quests for the season, like "Forever Alone" are just intended to be hurtful. This year, I was able to get a seasonal phase quest for the Lady Saresyn day quest no more than once per real day. If I made a mistake and requested a phase from a QM after already having done the required quest from that QM, then I was screwed, because I would not be able to get a seasonal quest from any other QMs until the next day. That was the biggest impediment to completing this. This quest [31201] is called 'Lady Saresyn Day',for Adventurers levels 60 to 250. This mark was obtainable for taking part in a mini quest during the Phineas Kapek's Invasion global during September 2010. It was fairly easy to get, and I got it multiple times on account of having several alts. All you had to do was to go around to seven areas not included in the main global (Rune, Rune Forest, Vospire, Diocletian, Lowangen, Mandrake Woods, and Arcane) and search the city for a metallic core item (a different metal for each area) and return it to Phineas Kapek's henchperson in Rune.
Some of the areas were a little difficult for novices, such as Mandrake and Diocletian. Fortunately, the cores could be found on the ground, not hidden or buried, and not picked up by mobs. Also, when anyone picked up a core, another core was scattered somewhere else in the area immediately so that the next person could find it right away. It would have been useful for this mini to know where all the hidden rooms were in an area. Usually the cores were not in difficult places though. |
