Mark of Magic

This is mark is awarded by Lord Vendredi for completing the mage class achievement quest.

This achievement quest requires as its phases 15 quests. 14 of these quests have low level phases involving visiting trainers in various cities around Alyria, collecting reagents, and using basic class skills. The phases are all things you definitely would know how to do by the time you reach archon.

The fifteenth quest in this achievement quest is Proven Archon, the capstone quest for all class achievement quests at archon level.

You inform Lord Vendredi you have completed your quest 'Monk Training !!!'.
For completing your Monk Training, the Powers have granted thee a mark!
Lord Vendredi tells you, 'Congratulations on the completion of thy quest, Lantis!'
Lord Vendredi tells you, 'As a reward for thy valor, I am awarding you 50 quest points, 500 building points, 65 practices, and 100,000 gold pieces.'
You have gained the Mark of Magic!
Lord Vendredi hands you a graduation present.

Mark of Management

This is an interesting one, I think, because I got it mostly by chance. I was scatter hunting on the faerie plane, razing the populations of Eanoss Azemar, Cavhfail, Seelie Castle and Rahdiyr when I was surprised to acquire this mark. I got this mark while I was killing mobs in Rahdiyr, and one of those mobs was a jiggling cube. Perhaps you've seen these gelatinous cube mobs from time to time. They seem to occur a lot in Eanoss especially. The cubes are a scatter from the Juju monkey, and they accumulate in low traffic areas such as Eanoss.

I admit, I had heard from one of my clan members when he got this mark about what he was doing when he got it, but since I had already killed a lot of those same? gelatinous cubes with no tangible reward, I wasn't expecting to get it for killing the cube that I did kill.

Since I posted this mark solution, I have heard that you must be responsible for killing the last existing cube in the game at the time, much like the Force mark which requires you to sacrifice the last straw man scatter in the game at the time. You heard it here first...maybe.

For doing your part in keeping the gelatinous cube menace under control, the Powers have granted thee a Mark.
You have been granted the Mark of Management!
You gain 64 practices!
You gain 300000 experience points!

Mark of Martyr

For a long time, I believed that I could not get this mark because I had the mark of passion. Not so, and now I have both. After getting the indication that this might not be true, I went to Aequetus during a period of double full moons, and sought out Briesha, the village's designated sacrificial virgin. Briesha lives in the village area in Aequetus.

'Martyr' you say to Briesha.
Briesha glances at the full moons far above, and sensing her looming fate, hurries off to the slopes of the volcano.
I also went to the room (A Sacrificial Ledge) just before the opening of the volcano death trap in this area. A group of NPCs had gathered to watch the sacrifice.

Briesha looks blankly at the crowd of revellers.

'By sacrifice I give life.' Briesha says. 'By sacrifice I am given life.  Who will sacrifice for me?'

You say to Briesha, 'I will'
Briesha gives you a sweet little kiss. Hmmm... maybe she likes you?
'By this sacrifice you will be given the chance to bring the light of balance to the world.' Briesha says. 'Step forth into the mouth of the beast and be reborn.'
Briesha points her delicate finger down into the mouth of the volcano.

At this point, all you need to do is go down into the death trap, and be sacrificed in her stead. I lost a quest doing this, but its okay.

For making the ultimate sacrifice, the Powers have granted thee a Mark.
You have been granted the Mark of Martyr!
You gain 50 archon points!
You gain 54 practices!
A fiery ball of gas belches forth as the volcano is momentarily fuelled.

Your long journey downward comes to a sudden and fiery stop as your body
is incinerated in one quick 'pffFFT'.

[CLAN] Lantis has been slain!

Mark of Mediums

I wish I could say I got this mark on my own, because I could have. However, when the opportunity presented itself to simply pay for it basically, I took it.

To complete this mini quest and mark you first need to obtain a memorial cross from the memorial hawker in Rune Forest Graveyard for 10,000 gold. He only gets one in every 3 real days, and it is not on the reboot. Also, you will need three vials of oil and a pinch of sulfur which can be obtained from a general store and reagent shop respectively. Those items you will need later. I do not know if any fire reagent can be substituted or not.

Once you have the necessary items, travel south south east from Rune to the abandoned lighthouse (717, 848.) Go up the stairs to the Beacon and take the brass key that is laying on the floor. If the key is not there, it will respawn when the area resets every 6 real hours. And if you pick up the key only to have Jack take it from you, simply kill him and pick the key up again. Backtrack to the entrance of the lighthouse. At the entrance, you automatically drop the key and Jack materializes from it.

'Freed from that blasted key at last!' the ghost of Jack exclaims. 'I thought we'd never arrive!'

'Oh, and that little spatter we had...a necessary arrangement.' the ghost of Jack says. 'I couldn't completely envelop the key unless I was defeated, and without that, my soul would've been forever trapped in the beacon.'

'If you insist on going down there, I can no longer stop you.' the ghost of Jack says. 'However, I am going to speak with my wife. You may catch up with me if you wish.'

The down passage opens and unlocks. Follow Jack down and west. When you catch up with him, he will be conversing with Challaine in which we find out that Challaine thought Jack had run out on her when in fact he is dead. It seems he was killed by Falyia, the woman Challaine has taken up with since Jack allegedly left her.

Jack and company call upon you, the innocent bystander, to sort out who is responsible and put them to death. So kill either Challaine or Faylia. I chose Faylia because she's obviously guilty.

Challaine, of course, is distraught that you've killed her lesbian lover. Not only did her lover kill her husband, but now her lover is dead too. Life is just too cruel. She runs out, and you follow her with Jack. You catch up with Challaine in the upstairs bedroom. She cannot bear to live anymore, and throws herself off the lighthouse.

Jack requests a memorial, the vials of lamp oil, and a fire reagent so that he can fashion himself a memorial and finally be at peace. Give him the items, in any order, and he will use them.

There's a rushing sound of a fire lighting, and the tremor of peace radiates from its location, slowly settling over the area.
For stepping into conflict and establishing peace, the Powers have granted thee a Mark!
You have been granted the Mark of Mediums!
You gain 45 practices!
You gain 85,000 experience points!

Soon, you will receive a read aura scroll in the mail from a deranged accountant who lives in the lighthouse downstairs.

Mark of Mischief

This mark is awarded by Lord Vashir for completing the thief class achievement quest.

This class achievement quest, at archon level, requires 15 quests, of which 14 quests have low level phases involving visiting trainers and practicing basic thief class skills.

The last quest in this achievement quest, if you do it as an archon, is Proven Archon, which is the capstone quest for every class achievement quest at archon level. Sorry, I forgot to take a log of this one.

Mark of Mystery

After an extended period of badgering Nepsis to help me do the Focault run so I could get the mark before I hit level 200 (at which point I would not have been able to get a mark for the run anymore,) he finally promise promise promised that he would take me. I had already camped the skeleton key, and he had flash bombs from his bag of tricks. I made 35 high explosive mixes too.

Just as we were about to go, the system crashes. Of course that would happen to me. At least when I was able to log back on the key was still in my inventory and so were all the mixes I made. I used my new shift stone to shift into a dryad of the forest for the run. It was time to invest in one of those since I am always asked on a run if I can shift, and the answer has been no, until now.

Santino was formed with us too, so that made it easier than our previous attempts to get the mark, where I would usually die and Nepsis would have to loot me. This time when Focault was almost dead and it was my turn to damage him that little bit more so that he would die and I could get a mark for "soloing" him, I was alternately throwing HE mixes and druid lightning at him until he died. Too bad there was nothing in the chest though. That would have been a coup, not that I would have gotten it.

Focault has been slain!
Your explosive blast dismembers Focault, killing him instantly.
For defeating the rebellious wizard Focault and solving the mysteries of his inner sanctum, the Powers have granted thee a Mark.
You have been granted the Mark of Mystery!
You gain 250000 experience points!
You gain 48 practices!
Your blood freezes as you hear Focault's death cry.
You receive 45,000 experience points.
Focault collapses lifeless to the ground.

Mark of Necromancy

Another fairly easy mark. This one was a lot like the mark of shadow. All you had to do was meet the requirements and be standing in a certain place at a certain time. The requirements for this are that you be a very negative alignment, around -700 and have high courage. For this, I had -701 (demonic) alignment, and 25 courage. Allegedly you might be able to get away with as little as -600 alignment and 20 courage. Then you need only be standing with Grimbold in the Tower of Art (NPK) when the clock strikes 1 am. Don't wait until the absolute last minute to get there though because you'll probably need to kill the receptionist and have her drop the key to Grimbold's lab before the aforementioned time. She doesn't always drop it though, so leave time for her to repop.

The evil necromancer, Grimbold chortles with glee as the cataclysm device decisively counts down another day.
The evil necromancer, Grimbold narrows his eyes and mutters an incantation of evil purpose.
A creeping sense of dread seems to saturate the area.
For standing witness to Grimbold's master plan, the Powers have granted thee a Mark.
You have been granted the Mark of Necromancy!
You gain 52 practices!
You gain 50 archon points!
You feel more evil.

Mark of Ogrish

Over the course of several failed attempts to get this mark, I worked out a strategy, which I will outline here. This mark is available to those who have both the Fortitude and Destruction marks.

In Ogre Village, visit Treelegs. You will need a dragon tooth necklace to speak to the ogres which you used for Fortitude and Destruction marks. As the dragon tooth necklace is no-save, you will probably need to obtain another one. For instructions on getting a new dragon tooth necklace see Mark of Fortitude.

A strong, brutish ogre stomps around looking for things to destroy.
'Wow you beat Throwfar at toss rabbit and beat Flowerkill at smash flower.' Treelegs says to you. 'But if Lantis want learn how be REAL ogre need take final test!'

'Final test' you say to Treelegs.
'Ok me explain final test.' Treelegs says to you. 'Me take Lantis to secret place by glade... There Lantis find big boulder that need be pushed to entrance of ogre forest. If Lantis complete test before boulder break then Lantis be part of village forever!'
'Lantis tell Treelegs when Lantis is ready to take test!' Treelegs exclaims to you.

Before you say ready, you should prepare yourself. Spell up your armor rating and levitation at least, though invisibility, sanctuary, haste, and other affects couldn't hurt. Once you say to Treelegs that you're ready, you will want to hit the ground running. The boulder you have to push will decay very quickly, so you don't want to spend a lot of time casting spells on yourself after you start.

Additionally, the boulder requires a lot of stamina to push and sometimes rolls backwards hurting you. To overcome this, I used my herbalism skill to mix 25 refresh mixes ahead of time and also some cure light mixes. That way I could quickly eat a mixture that would restore some of my stamina or restore my health when I needed it. You might also consider setting an event in your client so that you eat a cure light mix or potion whenever the boulder rolls backwards.

The boulder follows a path, so all you have to do is type 'push boulder', and then follow it into an adjacent room. Generally the boulder proceeds along a lighted trail, but it also has to be pushed through the NPK river and you will probably be attacked by the piranhas and have to flee after the boulder. In this case, or when it is not clear which room the boulder rolled into, or if you just lose track of it, quickly look in the surrounding rooms.

You will receive this mark when you push the boulder a final time in the room south of the abandoned hut. There are no rewards for this mark though, unless you count being able to talk to ogres as a reward.

You push the massive boulder up on to the wall.
You have received the mark of Ogrish. You may now walk around the Ogre Village as one of them.
You have been granted the Mark of Ogrish!

Mark of Orienteering

This mark is in new Lasler Valley area, for novice adventurers who are in the game's beginning area. Since you are booted out of this area at level 20ish, that defines the level cap for this mark also.

To initiate this mark, you approach an NPC on the road between the school house and the Lasler village. He asks you to identify yourself, and when you do, he gives you a quest. You are charged with returning an item for him. The item is meant to go to one of the towers in the Lasler Valley wilds that are for the Powers; Gath (fire), Ithrillis (water), Dira (air), and Maradas (earth).

So, use survey to view the map and walk out to the specified tower. Once you enter the appropriate tower, the item is taken from you, and you get a new item from the NPC there. The new item is meant to be returned to another of the towers. When you are finished delivering the items, you will be granted the mark.
