This mark is given for reaching Cassandra's room at the top floor of the Tower of Riga. Although this mark can be done up until level 75, I believe, it is probably better to attempt this while you are at the end of first class, and still have all your complexities raised. To get to the top of this tower, you will need to ascend through 8 or 9 floors that contain mobs of gradually increasing difficulty, some of which are aggressive. To ascend, you will need to either get keys from the NPCs through stealing or killing them to unlock the way up, or to use a skill or spell such as lockpicking, knocking, bashing, or magically unlocking the upward doors. I don't think pass door, or steam invocation works to bypass these doors. Alternatively, you can also ascend a level with a crimson orb, dropped by mobs, which will create a shadow tunnel to the upper floor. Additionally, players with tracking may find it easier to get to the top of this tower by tracking an NPC that is found on floor 8. Note that you can not track the ancient ariel. Make sure to bring some lights with you as ascending this tower can be very time consuming. You would not want to put in two or three hours of work on getting to the top only to have your last torch flicker out midway, leaving you unable to continue. When you reach the final ascent to the ancient ariel, your form will be broken up by the atmosphere of the staircase. However the ariel can still be tag teamed. Watch out for the ariel casting spells. The ariel often casts a spell that sends its attacker down to the bottom floor! Once the ariel is dead, go up to Cassandra's room. Anyone who enters this room gets the mark. No, you can not take the enormous ruby in the floor. I've tried. This mark is awarded for visiting the five witch gods around Alyria: Nirama, Voca, Tazil, Zur, and Wyvran, Fortunately, these NPCs sppear in places that are accessible to most players, without being too dangerous. Though it may require patience to find those mobs when they wander to the less dangerous areas of Alyria. A manifestation of Nirama, the Witch Wanderer of the Endless Path,
wanders through the various inns of Alyria. I found her in Lonely
Dragon Inn.
I wish there was more to say about this mark, but it is pretty straight-forward. At level 151 or above, you may go to the swamps of Arcane which lies on the opposite side of the Kasrah Cloud Bridge, and beyond the frog city. In order to get this mark, you must kill the mosquitoes in the swamp. It is reported that you will need to kill a lot of mosquitoes to get this mark because it is on a low random, however I had no such problems. I obtained the mark after killing about four on this occasion. You will need magic to kill them, because damage inflicted by magic is the only thing that seems to effect those pests.
They say when it rains it pours. Anyway, I was feeling awfully depressed about having to wait so long to get the Mark of Ingress, especially considering that I almost had it once. I was young and foolish though and wanted a reboot which caused me to lose all my hard work. So, when Xirote, my clannie, announced he'd gotten this mark that I'd never heard of, I immediately interrogated him about it. Instead of telling me what I wanted to know he offered to help me get it if I would just show up at the right place. This mark is available to adventurers of all makes and models. It is from the village of Colyon, on Beltane (coordinates are 1374, 1028) and to get to it, you will need to cross at least a few NPK rooms of the Beltane wilds and the entrance to Colyon. You will need to bring with you a lure (from Joe on Irda Isle) and a camelhair paintbrush (from Rune hidden upstairs room in Rune Museum.) Once you get to the village, find the elderly fisherman (in A Cliff Above the River) and wait for him to catch a squid. This may take a while, but when he does he will drop an ink sac. Get it and go to visit Mama Kjarlow. Give her the lure, and then the paintbrush, and then the ink sac when she asks for it. Additionally, the ink sac allegedly decays quickly, and one of the other two items is no-save. Mama Kjarlow will give you back an ink-spotted lure which you will then need to give to the elderly fisherman for the mark.
The mudcaked clodhoppers are a level 120 pair of boots that cast ooze invocation (druid stone skin.) I gave mine to Xirote. This mark is rewarded for receiving 33 boss kills. It is the first of several marks for getting increasing amounts of boss kills. Each boss gives unique boss kill credit, so you do not get credit for killing the same boss multiple times, aside from the normal boss rewards. You then keep track of how far along you have gotten, and which bosses you have killed already, with your personal log. Pogonip Vseth snarls at Krypt. It is hard to believe there is a mini quest out there that actually encourages you not to use your skill manuals that you can obtain from the orc pursuer in Dungeon Wroth and from the light leatherbound books from New Rigel. Well, there is. In Lowangen, a depressed romantic can be found that triggers this mini quest.
To my knowledge, this mini quest requires you to give him a manual for every skill and spell, though it doesn't seem to be completely alphabetical or abjure would be first, I think. For what its worth, the breaths are listed near the end, with lava walk being the last one. He first requires all the spell manuals, then moves onto all the proficiency manuals. He remembers what manuals you have given him even across reboots. He grants the mark of Profession when you've completed it. In addition to rewarding archon points at the end, and a few practices, you also get quest points throughout for handing in manuals and a small bag with a few archon level goodies!
Additionally, some manuals that you may gain from the orc pursuer mini will not work for the depressed romantic. According to my sources, the ones that work have a slightly different description than the ones that do not work. The way you can tell the difference is by examining the line in which the level restriction is shown. If the line that says "Your level must be greater than or equal to x to use this item" starts on its own line, then it is useable. If it does not start on its own line, then it is not useable for the depressed romantic mini. I believe this report is accurate, but if you have evidence that it is not, I would be interested to know that also. Like Vagary, this mark is available to only second classers and above. To receive this mark, be in Lowangen at noon game time (which happens four times every real day.) You will hear a masculine voice shout about that those who wish to play a game should come to a specific room in Lowangen. The room varies. Go to the room specified and you should see a mob called a dodgy fellow. On a side note, the mob does not always appear in the room it is supposed to be in for the game. I suspect this is due to no-mob flags, or some room restriction that keeps him from appearing there. However, if he is there, use the handraise emote to let him know you want to play the game. The game begins at twenty minutes after noon. If you are the only one playing you win automatically. At least, that is how it used to work. I believe they have corrected this so that you have to have at least two people to play.
