Mark of Water

Yesterday night, I raised Lantis to level 60:180. That means that now it's time for Lantis to camp the end of third class until I have all of her monk spells maxxed or raised to an adequate level. I will need hundreds of practices because I have a handful of skills to work on yet, including spell shield, silence, slow, combat blink, resurrect, multiply magic, and others. The only way for me to get the practices I need will be intense quest whoring, and also through obtaining marks and orbs of Vandemaar.

I am now able to obtain those marks that are only obtainable by adventurers who are level 180 or higher. Those marks are Water, Vigor, Luck, Dusk, Dawn, and Spirit. There may be others, but that's all I can think of right now.

A handful of these marks are very doable, so I went on a blitz collecting these marks all at once. I received four marks today so I have several blog entries to make today also...

The first mark of the group I received was the Mark of Water. There used to be three possible solutions to this mark available to various levels of adventurers. I didn't go to Atlantis and find the wandering ethereal mob, and I didn't manage to kill the water wyrd in my first class. I took the cop out and got this mark the easy way. Presently, the easy method I used is now the only method to get this mark as all marks have been disambiguated. The other methods to obtain this mark may lead to different marks now.

Obtainable at level 180 and above, and available all over Alyria, this version of the mark of water requires that you give a leather water skin (for sale at the many general stores in Alyria) to a beached whale (located on the many beaches of Alyria.) It may have to be a full water skin. I filled mine, but I'm not sure if it really matters.

You give a leather water skin to a beached whale.
A beached whale calls out thankfully as it turns about and skims back into ocean on the paltry stream provided by a leather water skin.
For exhibiting true altruism towards the powers of Ithrilis, the Powers have granted thee a Mark.
You have been granted the Mark of Water!
You gain 43 practices!
You gain 250000 experience points!

Mark of Wealth

Once you have obtained the mark of Greed for amassing at least 1 million gold pieces in 1 bank account, you can afford to give a little away here and there. This mark is gained for giving 1000 gold to a beggar in Sigil (I think the mob is a bedraggled beggar) while having some money left over on hand. I am not sure if it is required to have money remaining on hand, but it is something to try if this mark is not working for you.

Mark of Wonder

For players of level 1 to 75, this mark is obtainable in New Rigel from the illusionist in town square. He has a magic act going on a loop constantly. When he asks the audience for a volunteer, sayto him I will, and he will shove you in a box and you will be part of his disappearing person act. To the audience, you will have disappeared, but you will actually be en route to Tellerium.

If you volunteer before he requests you, then he will ignore you when the time for the trick actually comes around. At that point, in lieu of a system crash or reboot, you will have to kill him, or have someone else kill him, if you want him to use you as his volunteer.

This is also a method of travel, though not a very efficient one, to get to Tellerium.
