Mini Quests

Aequetus - Beacon of Ina

In Aequetus, you use the beacon of Ina to move around the area. The beacon can contain 1 item. My thought was that the eye of Ina item (dropped by mob in CPK) was supposed to go in here, but that has not panned out, yet.

I mean, something must go in here, or why make it a container at all? I just don't know what that is supposed to be.

Dorathon - Oil Well, or Gold Sink?

The other day, I was in Dorathon and happened to trigger a mini quest that looks interesting. I'd have finished it, but I can't afford it right now.

Sjoru, the wellkeeper stands here, pumping water vigorously.
'Hullo, Lantis!' Sjoru exclaims to you. 'You know things about the oil?'
Sjoru says to you, 'Me not too smart, I play this here banjo really well, but don't know nothing about the oil.'
'Brandlebro say he need whaleskin oil for thing, I don't know how to get whaleskin!' Sjoru exclaims to you. 'Only see ground oil!'
'You bring me whaleskin oil, it important for me, please!' Sjoru exclaims to you. 'I give you thing I found, it magic, but I don't know how it works! We trade!'

And I have a hard time resisting when someone says they'll give me something magic. But the only place that I know of that sells whale oil is the tinkergnome shop in Lowangen for 5.5 million gold. I'm too poor! Even when magic things are on the line, the price is too high. For your money though, you might get something really nice. Some of the items that you can get from Sjoru are: a tower shield sanctified by a priest of the fallen gods, and 3 other items that I can't recall... sorry.

Gilvery - Sister Scythe

No, sister scythe is not the name of my death metal band, though it would be a good one, IMO.

In Gilvery, there are at least two NPCs (Broshed and Avriel, and possibly Thereste) who have something to say if you mention the sister scythes. Since Broshed is one of these, it is possible that he would say more to someone who had the mark of Agronomy, which may be why that mark costs so much to complete.

The item this hint is related to would possibly be the Sister-scythe, Calamity, and in fact, since Agronomy has to be equal to true to use this item, that makes it very plausible in my mind that you will get more information about this when that mark is complete. Also getting this item may require access to Broshed's fields.

You say to Avriel, the farmer's daughter, 'Uncle'

'He and his wife went to Hellbent Mountain and got lost.' Avriel, the farmer's daughter says to you.
Avriel, the farmer's daughter sighs.
'She had one of the Sister-scythes Thereste made.' Avriel, the farmer's daughter says to you.

'I don't know what that means, exactly, but when I hear my dad talk about it, it's like the scythe is something terrible.' Avriel, the farmer's daughter says to you. 'Know what I m ean?'

'Anyways.' Avriel, the farmer's daughter says to you. 'That's all I know.'

Broshed and Thereste also respond to the phrase 'sister-scythes'.

Glarshak - Trading Up

This mini is for low level adventurers. I couldn't get it to work on my second classer because I was too "scary", and she is only 110. It worked fine on my level 57 though. To access Glarshak, you need to search through the vines to get past the first room of this area. Also, when climbing the mountain, if possible use a broom or a rocking horse and bypass the part where you fall down the mountain multiple times trying to get up it. If a broom or rocking horse is not available, levitation might help, or just make sure to sleep after you get hit with a falling rock so you don't die.

You are basically employed by these villagers to go around and swap one item for another item until everyone has what they want. First, start by killing all the butterflies and birds before climbing the mountain, you'll need an assortment of feathers and wings to begin the mini quest.

You can start this mini in two ways. Either you can start by giving the woman in the house (N, NW, W, S of the gates of the village) feathers from the birds you killed earlier until she is satisfied. She needs one feather from each kind of bird, I think, so I just gave her feathers until she had a pair.

'Pretty feathers, sparkly feathers, will I ever find you?' a diligent housewife asks.
You give a small feather to a diligent housewife.
'Wow, just exactly what I was looking for!' a diligent housewife exclaims. 'I will give you this for your troubles. I think it's a ball of some sort; I found it rolling to the front of my house one day. Since you're so nice, could you find its owner?'
A diligent housewife gives you a bouncy round thing.

Then, take the bouncy ball back to its owner, a child in the house (N, NW, NW, N, and NW from there.)

'I lost my ball while playing with it one day.' a playful child says. 'I gave it a nice kick then I never found it again, no matter how hard I looked. I hope you could find it for me!'
You give a bouncy round thing to a playful child.
'Oh wow, you found my ball!' a playful child exclaims. 'I'll be more careful with it from now on. Someone gave me some recipes, but I don't like cooking. Maybe this will interest you!'
A playful child gives you a pamphlet of recipes.

There is a child on the other side of the village who wants to grow up to be a cook, so take this book to him along with a salmon from the fish shop. The child lives in a house N, NE, E, and E of the gates of the village, I think.

'I would really like to learn to cook but my mom is always too busy to teach me.' a playful child says. 'I wonder if someone else could teach me...'

'Cook' you say to a playful child.
'Even though my mom can't teach me, I can still learn by myself, if I can get some instructions.' a playful child says. 'I wonder if there are recipes written down so I can can practice... I can't wait to make my favorite fish meals!'

You give a pamphlet of recipes to a playful child.
'Hey, you found some instructions for cooking something?' a playful child asks.
'Let me look through it...'

'There are lots of nice recipes here, but I would really like to try this salmon recipe.' a playful child says. 'It's really too bad that I can't afford to buy a salmon though.'

You give a raw salmon to a playful child.
'Yay, now I can try to cook a good meal by myself.' a playful child says. 'Well, the emphasis is on try, but since you went through all that trouble for me, here's something for you. I was never into fighting, so I don't really need this.'
A playful child gives you a chipped wooden spear.

From there, take the spear to the fiery forger.

'I wonder if I can ever see the famous broken spear?' Spoguk, the fiery forger asks. 'What would I give to try and reforge it.'

You give a chipped wooden spear to Spoguk, the fiery forger.
'Could this be it?' Spoguk, the fiery forger asks. 'It is just as I described. Ah, my excitement overwhelms my doubts, but there is no doubt that you should be rewarded.'
Spoguk, the fiery forger gives you a dirty green rock.

Then, take the rock and give it to the east side elder on the north side of the village (east of the chief's house.)

You give a dirty green rock to a noble elder.
'How lucky!' a noble elder exclaims. 'This is a rare emerald gemstone that could be very valuable if I could get it polished.'

'Did you want something?' a noble elder asks. 'Fine. Here's a knife of some sort for your troubles.'
A noble elder gives you a small blade.

Or you could start with the lady (N, NE, E, NE, SE of the gates) who wants a collection of butterfly wings. Hopefully you killed the butterflies and have a set of wings because she requires a pair. She may need one from each kind of butterfly, but I didn't test that. I just gave her wings until she was satisfied.

A diligent housewife says, 'Hm, I wonder if I will ever have time to hunt for those pretty butterfly wings...'

You give some butterfly wings to a diligent housewife.
'Perfect!' a diligent housewife exclaims. 'Now I have both pieces for my collection. Here is my gift to you. I found this doll near the market and none of my children wants it, so maybe you could find someone who might like it.

One of the children on the southwest side of village has lost her doll.

'Oh, how unfortunate am I...to lose a doll of mine that I really admire.' a playful child says. 'I wonder if someone...will fulfill my desire.'

You give a raggedy doll to a playful child.
'Ooh wonderful!' a playful child exclaims. 'This is the doll I lost! Here is something for you. Someone left it in front of our hut and I don't play with it.'
A playful child gives you a light wooden shield.

Take the shield, and a sword purchased at the forger, to a child on the east side of the village (the house north/northeast of the saloon.)

'I wish I could be a warrior like my dad, but all I have is this stupid bow.' a playful child says.

You give a short wooden sword to a playful child.
'What a nice sword!' a playful child exclaims. 'I can work on my offense with this, although I might need a shield too.'

You give a light wooden shield to a playful child.
'Wow, thanks!' a playful child exclaims. 'Now I can practice to become a warrior just like my dad. Here's this bow that I found in the woods... It's not the weapon that I want to use, so you can have it.'
A playful child gives you a wooden shortbow.

Now, you can return the shortbow to its rightful owner, the deer hunter.

Vugdish, the expert hunter sighs.

'Oh where, oh where have my precious gone?' Vugdish, the expert hunter asks.

You say to Vugdish, the expert hunter, 'Precious'
'I lost my treasured crossbow somehow; I have no clue how it could have happened.' Vugdish, the expert hunter says. 'I display it in my shop, but I never take it out, so I would guess that some little kid stole it for no good reason. If you get it back to me, I will compensate you for your troubles.'

You give a wooden shortbow to Vugdish, the expert hunter.
'This is it!' Vugdish, the expert hunter exclaims. 'I've had this crossbow ever since I was a little kid, so I didn't want to lose it... Here's something for your troubles. I was never very good at magic so maybe you might find some usage for it.'
Vugdish, the expert hunter gives you a manual of spellcasting.

As far as I know, this manual is not good for anything except trading. So, give it to the elder on the north side of the village, west of the chief's area.

You give a manual of spellcasting to a noble elder.
'Ah, this manual should expand my knowledge in spellcasting.' a noble elder says. 'For helping me, I shall give you this useless thing I found some time ago. A man's trash is another's treasure, correct?'
A noble elder gives you a smelly shoe.

I guess that's true. Cheap old person. There is a child on the northwest section of the village who has lost his shoes. You can bring him back this one, but where is the other? It is a low spawning item buried on the cliff side you had to climb to get to the village.

You give a muddy shoe to a playful child.
'Yay, I finally have both of my shoes.' a playful child says. 'Thanks a lot! I have some spare shorts that I don't use anymore. That's my present to you!'
A playful child gives you some small shorts.

Do you happen to have any spare clothes for me?' a playful child asks. 'I'm looking for a pair of small shorts if you happen to come across some.'

You give some small shorts to a playful child.
'Oh yay, for me?' a playful child asks. 'You are a very nice person to help those in need. I do not have much to give you in return, but please accept this small treasure as thanks.'

Then, there's a housewife who wants the metal that you get from the shorts.

You give a shiny piece of metal to a diligent housewife.
'Wow, what an interesting piece of metal!' a diligent housewife exclaims. 'I've never seen anything like this before. As my gift to you, here is a not so shiny cup that might be of value to someone else.'
A diligent housewife gives you a bronze cup.

There is a blade buried south of the east elder. You can give this and a broken hilt to a playful child. I'm sorry to say I missed logging some instructions in this part of the mini. I'll have to go back and work through it again at a later time.

You give a small blade to a playful child.
'Finally yes my blade I have back.' a playful child says. 'Thanks much that your trouble do me this. I have shirt that is pink that my mom that gives me, but I do want not pink shirt. Here's for you!'
A playful child gives you a small shirt.

I haven't gotten to the end yet because it was broken when I was working on it. Maybe they've fixed it with recent fixes to the system though.

As of October 8th, 2010, this is still broken or unsolved.

Gorth - The Locked Gates

This is a short mini, and fairly boring. Its possible that there may be more to this that I haven't figured out yet, but here is what I've done so far.

In Gorth, when you visit the overseer in his tent he triggers the following:

'What business you have with us Lantis?' the Overseer asks.
The Overseer peers at you as if he is trying to see into the very depths of your soul.

You say to the Overseer, 'Job'
'You want job Lantis?' the Overseer asks you. 'I have job. You like this job. One of my miners get bad, steal from me. I want him dead. Find Tont, kill!'

Tont can be found in front of the locked gates. When you kill him, he drops a head - an object rather than a normal body part.

You give the bloody severed head of Tont to the Overseer.
'Ahhh!' the Overseer exclaims. 'You gotten it for us Lantis! Reward for you!'
The Overseer gives you a small brass gate key.

As far as I can tell, all the key does is open the gates which lead through to the opposite side of the mountain. There could easily be more to this though.

Shlarksh - Tog and Og's Workout

In Shlarksh, a remote orc village on an island near Auryn, there are two mobs, Tog and Og. They are presumably guarding the locked gate in the village, and possibly by interacting with them you can gain access to this area.

You say to Og, 'Work out'
'I am Og!' Og exclaims.

Og points excitedly at Tog!
Tog grunts like a pig.

Og exclaims, 'This is Tog!'

'And we are here to pump YOU UP!' Og exclaims.

Og puffs out his chest and flexes his muscles. Impressive huh?

Og exclaims, 'Now pass those boulder back and forth!'
Og gives Tog a particularly heavy boulder.

Tog gives Og a particularly heavy boulder.

Og gives you a particularly heavy boulder.

This, unfortunately, is where I have run in to some problems. If I give the boulder back to Og he crushes it with his bare hands and they tell me they won't exercise with me anymore because I am a bad workout partner. If I give the boulder to Tog he drops it in surprise and they won't work out with me anymore. If I keep the boulder, they ask why we aren't exercising and then won't work out with me anymore... There seems to be no way for me to win, unless I just haven't thought of something yet, which could be the case, but I am vexed because it seemed so straightforward on the surface.

Even trying this mini with another player, so that I would have someone to pass the boulder to, did not help. I must be missing something, or not passing it quickly enough, or maybe its just broken.

Mulakanathos - Burial

I can't believe I haven't posted this mini until now, but it is kind of a boring one. SE from the Northeast Edge of the Boardwalk, search to reveal a down. Go down, and kill the armored oil dragonne. After you have slain it, loot the hunter's bones from the corpse.

A Bubbling Oil Pit
(-------------------------------------------------)

The toxic petrol quicksand sucks everything below its gooey surface, churning over and suffocating anything that may be living. This is not the ideal place to be. The smell is unbearable, the heat extreme, and the only
sounds those of tons of liquid death sloshing and swishing around. The closest thing to a solid bottom of this vat is several feet below the surface, which would make climbing out onto the boardwalk quite difficult.
Some drops of blood are on the ground.
You feel dizzy, and everything seems to spin around you.
The corpse of an armored oil dragonne is lying here.

The corpse of an armored oil dragonne contains:
a hunter's bones

You take a hunter's bones from the corpse of an armored oil dragonne.

Once you have the hunter's bones, you are permitted to enter the guarded crypt on the west side.

The Seat of Vilrette                                            - - NE
(-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)-D-> -

This dark, smoke-filled chamber is the seat of the Vilrette tribe, who deal with all matters of death and religion. Incense is constantly burning, leaving a heavy, musty smell in the air. Gothic artwork covers the walls of the circular chamber. Some of it is strange, dark architecture, though paintings and sculpture are mixed in. There is a small staircase in the far back of the room, but it is guarded by two men wearing all black. To the northeast is the chamber of the S'Gionna.
Some drops of blood are on the ground.
A pale, shrouded woman drifts about, watching over the Vilrette.

The two men step aside, allowing you to pass into the crypt.

The Burial Tomb
(-------------------------------------------------) - <-U-(M)---> -
WARNING: You are in a LAWFUL PLAYER KILLING room.

Maintained by the Vilrette tribe, this humongous cellar houses the bodies of thousands of passed citizens. They are contained in large, plain coffins, kept above ground for anointing purposes. Dim light fights its way
through the ever present haze, and the smell of death seems to battle for dominance over the incense that always burns here. A small stairwell leads up out of the crypt.
A large wooden casket is here, blending with its deathly surroundings.

Once you are in the crypt, open the casket and place the hunter's bones inside. Close the casket and the hunter will be laid to rest. Upon leaving the crypt, you will be given a nominal reward of 1,000 gold pieces for honoring the deceased hunter.

Teolaven - Bookmarking Brownie

I don't know what this is all about. It's a mini, but I haven't heard of it being a mark yet. Northwest in the farm area of this little village is an illusionary exit that leads to an area adjacent to the village. In this area there is a brownie that entrusts you with the task of bringing him back bookmarks. I was curious about this and was able to find out that there are some mobs that drop bookmarks, other than the one Doctor Rune wants that is. Of course, those mobs are Ravella of Sea Hag Isle, Lady Bane, Veldra, and the Manifestation of Evil.

I happened to find one of the bookmarks he might want, and since I've been curious about this for a while, I ran it over to him and gave him the bookmark. I got no reward of any kind for this. It is possible that he rewards archons, and its possible there is some requirement I did not meet. However, at the moment, I am considering this mini a lost cause.

Teolaven - Jethset Mawn and Sasha

In yet another mini that I haven't seen through to the end yet, Jethset Mawn, an NPC who seemed to have no real purpose, other than to be slightly harder to beat than some other mobs in Teolaven, started talking to me.

A stunning Beltan woman sits here, writing and smiling to herself.
Jethset Mawn calms you.
Jethset Mawn asks, 'Lantis, could you do me a favor?'
'I lost my little Sasha, when I was visiting a friend in The Hamlet of Winton.'
Jethset Mawn says to you. 'I'm not able to leave Teolaven right now, would you be a dear and look for it for me? If you return it to me, I'll give you a kiss!'
Jethset Mawn smiles at you. Doesn't that just make you want to smile back at her?

Apparently, Missus Sasha is a stuffed toy dog item that is found in Teolaven... as to where its found, I don't know. Maybe its like the treasure chest in PC that scatters and you have to find it and bring it back once the mini is triggered? That is just a theory though.

I wish I could say this mini was not broken, but I can't see how it works. I was surprised when I went to check it out again that Jethset Mawn sent me to a different city, not Winton. She just assigns random villages, including Geldam, which I'm not sure is even open yet.

If anyone has any more information on this, I'd be glad to hear it.

Teolaven - Line for the Outhouse

This is a weird mob and room in Teolaven.
I don't know if it has any deeper significance or not, but why the hell else would they have included this?

In Teolaven there is an outhouse. The door to this room is closed. I am not certain how often this room resets.
If you knock on the outhouse door while it is occupied, you will hear someone inside ask for your patience.

You can knock three or four more times following that, and the occupant will get increasingly agitated, until finally he comes out to confront you.

When he comes out, he is not aggressive. You can attack him, and I think when you do he changes shape to his real form. Before the fight happens though, this mob runs off, ending combat.

When you enter the outhouse, there is a toilet you can sit on. Also, the toilet has a button on it that makes a jet of water shoot out of the toilet, like a bidet. Nothing else interesting has happened so far with this mob, or item.

If anyone has any more information on this, I'd be glad to hear it.

The Wreck of the Feisty Wench - Deliver the Secret Cargo

This is an interesting mini quest I was working on with Vahu. Having been clued in to the existence of a mini quest on the Feisty Wench, we spent a few hours checking out keywords and looking for the trick to advancing this mini quest.

To solve this mini quest, you need to obtain seven unique bottles from the Feisty Wench and surrounding area.

The first bottle can be found in the cargo crate on the main deck. The second bottle can be found in the pallet on the main deck. The third bottle can be found hidden on the deck.

To obtain the fourth bottle, follow Hoffman, the first mate, around until he does an emote in which he grabs something hidden in his shirt. Then you can kill him because the bottle will be spawned on him.

The fifth bottle is in the captain's cabin in the tube. Unfortunately you are not allowed to remove anything from his office while he's there. Wait until 6pm for him to go down to the galley to get something to eat and steal the bottle.

The sixth bottle is similar. It is from the cook, but you can not kill the cook while he is in the galley because it is a safe room. You can get it in two ways. Either wait until 11am and he will go down to the hidden gambling den on the lowest level of the ship, across from the death trap room. Kill him and hopefully he will have the bottle he drops. Or if he has the bottle in his inventory you can sayto him honor and then sayto him cargo and he will give you the bottle. If he does not have the bottle, you will need to kill him when he goes into the gambling den and he should repop with it in the galley.

Finally, the seventh bottle allegedly will pop once you have the other six. According to my sources, the bottle is buried randomly around the island. You will probably need to dig in many rooms to find it. A Maldra's Pendant would be helpful for this if you have one.

Then go to the Peachtree Tavern in Tellerium, which is, I am told, the final destination the cargo was supposed to reach before the ship wrecked. The jacket you can loot from Hoffman will give you a clue on how to trigger the end of this mini quest. There seems to be requirements for getting him to respond favorably. If you say to the stocky, well-built man 'fish drink of the water indiscriminately,' then he responds, but may not allow you to complete the mini. Also, allegedly if the bottles are not full, such as if you drink out of them, then the bar man will not accept the delivery.

I was kind of disappointed that this wasn't a mark, or that it was disabled. The reward for this mini was 400k gold and a rock on a leash yo-yo.
