Mini Quests Diocletian
- Stolen Orbs Now the step-by-step guide to completing this rather lengthy mini is within your grasp, courtesy of Zurak. Twas he, with help from Rka, who helped me to complete this mini and gave me permission to post the findings. This is a rather lengthy guide. Ordinarily, I might not want to expose the work of others to the masses so explicitly, but considering that the last time the players in the know didn't talk about what they knew, the knowledge of how to do this mini faded from memory, I don't feel too bad posting it here. When you walked into the Emperor of Diocletian's room in the Palace of Diocletian you may have triggered him to say something about having his orbs stolen... sounds like a dirty joke, doesn't it?
All of the orbs can be found in Diocletian, although one can actually be found in two places...
Visit Archibold, the great scholar, in the Diocletian Basilica. Be sure to bring along a psionic because Archibold will want to communicate his message to you using esp.
It seems kind of ridiculous to me that Archie can say the first two lines into any non-psionic's mind, but can't tell you the phrase unless you are a psionic... So, then you take the phrase and the rhinestone you have obtained back to Emperor Diocletian. Thanks to Rka for being my psionic enabler for this.
And thus, Emperor Diocletian has given you the necessary clues to progress you onto the next step in your journey. But who is this person that you need to seek out? He wasn't very specific... It needs to be someone who works for the Emperor, someone who is a skilled fighter, and someone who has information for you. There could be more than one candidate who fits this description, but exploring Diocletian with the seal will soon produce results.
Now you have the air orb, and a mysterious crumpled note. Hold onto the orb and read the writing on the note.
While it certainly sounded like a riddle to me, the truth is much easier... simply repeat the last two lines of the note to Larkin. Larkin is master gardener in Peristyle garden.
After retrieving the rogue bumblebee's stinger:
When I found the seed, it was to the room just south of Larkin in the garden. I do not know if it pops in the same place every time or not though. It could be a random room in the garden just as easily.
The earth orb can also be obtained in Vospire after reboot on the ground in one of the merchant's shops in the south side of the city. Finally, go down and down into the tunnels beneath the Baths of Diocletian. Walk around until you find An Unusual Glowing Dead-End. Search in this room until an east exit appears. Go east into:
Yes, in the broom's hand is a water orb. Kill the broom and take its orb, if it has it. You may have to kill the broom more than once to get this orb. Once you have all three orbs (air, earth, and water,) return all three orbs to the Emperor of Diocletian.
The pike of prosperity is a level 150 pike that does holy-wrath damage with flaming. It doesn't seem to be a particularly good weapon, even for mid-third classers. Maybe that's just my opinion though. The special damage types could be handy though. Lowangen/Tower of Art - Keleuei and Sanctity Equipment
set First, you must kill
the Grand Master Paladin in the Tower of Art to get a low drop house
key. Then, take the house key to Lowangen. On Lowangen's east side,
there is a locked east door. You can use the key from the Grand Master
Paladin to gain entrance. Inside is Keleuei,
and he is not too difficult for a pair of early to mid fourth classers.
A good strategy is taking turns tanking and fleeing to heal. However,
the door will close and lock again after a short while though, which
makes it effectively impossible to flee from Keleuei if you need to.
Once the door closes and locks you can use smoke bombs or calm spell,
potion, mix, etc. to end combat. Keleuei is not aggro, as far as I can
remember. He drops a white
shield of sanctity, a blessed helm of sanctity, and a longsword named
'Sanctity', which is as much information I can provide without feeling
like I'm ripping off at least one other source. Unfortunately, the old
Clan Cabal site is no longer up, and thus their helpful guide to this
area is not up either. As an aside, its possible that Keleuei drops a
key to a cabinet that is in his room which has the equipment rather
than actually dropping the equipment. Dungeon Wroth - A Huge, Enraged Orc Mini quest/boss which starts at pathetic human in Dungeon Wroth, to then giving a summon scroll to a cloaked worshipper, to be transported to a huge, enraged orc NPC boss. I didn't get very far, and hopefully you can do better. This mini takes the player beyond what is required for the mark of Judgement. In Dungeon Wroth, visit the pathetic looking human. If you have already gotten this mark, you can still rescue him again to trigger the second part of this mini quest. However, this is allegedly a mini that can be done by those up to level 135.
Then, of course, you race the pathetic human prisoner to the room outside the entrance of Dungeon Wroth.
Following this, descend to the bottom level of Dungeon Wroth and visit the cloaked worshipper that is in the room north and west of the high priest.
I can only guess that this tortured cloaked worshipper is actually Sellan, the person spoken of by Sir Koller, the pathetic human prisoner. You need to give him a summon scroll and he will take you to the orc master. The orc master is supposedly difficult, so you may want to bring a small form, if you can. Thanks to Zurak for his help with this. Update: I gave the summon scroll to the cloaked worshipper, with my level 117 alt. I was summoned down into a dank pit (NPK) with no exits in which I met the huge, enraged orc. It was aggressive, attacking me immediately. I lasted three rounds, during which it bashed me with its arms, fragged my equipment with frost breath attack, and also tried to physically disarm me. It seemed to be immune to my bashing weapon. Three rounds was really not enough time to experiment, unfortunately. I had previously thought that getting to this area and beating this mob might lead to some of those elusive Dungeon Wroth equipment... I did not even have a chance to look at the mob to see what it was carrying. Oh well. Maybe I'll try again at 120, or so, and with a group next time. Update 2: I went with a full form of 120s to this mob, and we still got the crap kicked out of us. That is saying something because with fewer people we were able to easily handle junior megatentacled bog nightmare, and ancient beyonder. Some in the form had over 1500 HP, we had 2 witches, and a knave, but we all ended up dying. Fortunately, we discovered that you can bring a group with you, but that a human is needed to interact with the cloaked worshipper NPC in order to get in. Also, we found that you can get back down to the mob immediately, without waiting on some arbitrary cool down period for cloaked worshipper. Irda Isle - Nyno'hoj Sepedlaep's Apple Martini (Charmed) **A thinning young man is here, sewing seeds into the soil. I brought him a few, but I had to go all the way back and forth to Rune. I tried buying and planting a bunch of apple seeds all over the island so that they would germinate into apple trees and save me from running back and forth, but that didn't work very well as the tree disappeared pretty quickly and took too long to mature. The strategy that finally worked was to go to Sigil, and buy a ton of apples from the cake shop on Periwinkle because there is no limit on the amount of apples you can buy from there. I filled up 4 bags with apples which worked out to be around 300 apples, and traveled back and forth to Irda Isle a few times on my broom until I had met the required number of apples that Nyno'hoj wanted. You give a bright, shiny red apple to Nyno'Hoj Sepedlaep. So, there you go. He does reward a suicide contraption after all. A suicide contraption is a level 241 exotic weapon that does 180 points of other-type damage. However, attacking something while wearing it causes the victim to be zotted down to 1 hp, 1 sp, 1 stamina. It is also vanish-death. Its no-save though, so you won't be using it very long... hence the name I suppose. I'm still trying to determine what the most useful application of this item would be, since I only have one. Mandrake Woods - Tired Elven Paladin and Paradore A tired-looking elf searches for her horse. Then you must look around the Mandrake Forest for the bronze gelding, Paradore. You give a scented apple to a bronze gelding. Once you're mounted on the horse, ride Paradore back to the tired elven paladin. I recommend being invisible through most of this mini so as to avoid the aggressive trolls slowing you down. However, you must be visible when you enter the elven paladin's room so that she will reward you for bringing back the horse. A tired-looking elf searches for her horse. These pixies spawned in New Rigel several years ago, not to be seen by me again. Here are some interactions I had with this NPC. NPC has a pixie dress item that can be worn on the hand (I believe). I believe this NPC is related to an area in the Bazaar. If you look out the window in the room with the bearded sage you will see a forested area, but I don't know how to access this room. Possibly you could blink in. You say to a lost pixie, 'Home' New Rigel - Holy Silver Cross A Dusty Antechamber - - - I haven't done this mini quest yet either, but I completely intend to. This mini is for second classers levels 61 to 119. Have you ever been in Sigil killing castle knights and being baffled because you could not sacrifice a delicate jewelry box. You can't sacrifice it because there is something in it, and you can't get that something out because you can't fathom how to unlock the box because there is no known key. You used to be able to open this box by getting a dracon to acid or fire breath on it, or walk through a trap that frags equipment, such as the one at the entrance to Kypell's room (all west on the hidden street off South Arnica.) However, it recently has been changed to be magic resistant, and so is impervious to traps or acid breath. Inside the box is a unicorn key. The key is insulated, so it would not be destroyed in the fragging. Take the key, if you can figure out how to get it out, into the gallery of the castle. Search one south from the northeast room of the gallery and a locked door will be revealed. Allegedly, you can pass the guard inside the door at 5:30 am game time and go down, but after doing some work on this myself, I found I was not able to gain access past the guard at 5:30 am. I am going to try midnight, and I am open to suggestions about other possible times to try. It does seem though that he will let you by for an entire hour (15 minutes real time.) Inside is a boss aggro satyr mob (Novrar the necromatic beastmaster, I believe),
which would be a difficult fight for a second classer. It is
possible that more than one person may be able to get down at once.
Allegedly, the best class for this boss was a valkyrie druid, but of
course new class combinations are now available that might be better.
For instance witch, psionic, paladin, or knave might have something to
give them an edge. The equipment the satyr drops though is like the white whale for level 100s. He may drop a bonedriven shield, a spear of the hemic unicorn, and/or an equine femur. Tellerium - Jake Jofasta's Pinecone Bucket I really have no idea
what this mini leads to, but I am curious. You are intended to bring
large pinecones to Jake's Drug Store in Templeton, and put the large
pinecones in the bucket in his shop. You focus your powers of observation on a well-worn syrup bucket: If the bucket is anything to go by, this is
probably an archon miniquest, possibly involving a huge dragon. Allegedly, you can get these large pinecones from
Fellstump (scatter mob,) Larkin in Diocletian, a fey pharmacist, a
giant maneating plant on Sea Hag Isle, or a tangle tree in the wilds.
That tangle tree is evil, by the way. Its no-flee. You put a large pinecone in a well-worn syrup bucket. With a soft *tchungk*, you drop a large pinecone into a well-worn syrup bucket. Despite being a seemingly insurmountable task, a well-worn syrup bucket is slowly filling with pinecones. Right now, it is maybe a fifth full of pinecones. Additionally, there is a druid outside of Jalur Lumber Camp who encourages you to bring pinecones here. So far, I have heard that this pinecone bucket is somehow related to Crerakoth's branches. Xaventry / Tellerium - Bloodline Quest This is surely a recipe for disaster. Okay, the begin. I purchased a vial of my blood from the quest master in Xaventry, Lady Undya. This is an archon item and an archon quest, though you can get the vial from other quest masters too. I then held and used the vial in a safe room, and was transported to the ageless druid in Xaventry who hangs out in the druid grove, but can only be accessed by other druids, unless you have a warp stone or this vial apparently. You are given a quest of thirteen tasks (I believe it was,) and told to visit Uny'yun the aged for the phases. In fact, the first phase is to talk to Uny'yun the aged. He is in Tellerium prison. In fact, this is the really old minotaur who needs the keys of ancient benediction. He is sitting in a non-pk cell on the south east side of the prison. You don't have to go through pk to get to him, though I have heard that the room underneath him is CPK. He will inform you of your first of twelve tasks. It seems to be different for everyone what order (and perhaps even what tasks) are in their bloodline quest, which I think makes it more interesting, but also difficult to collaborate with others. Here are some phases that I've heard about so far. Anyone attempting this obviously has their work cut out for them. - Destroy 1000 maleficarum roots, Tellerium - Keys of Ancient Benediction Alright, I admit it. I just posted this because I needed something to add to justify updating finally. This is a mini that I have run across a few times now, and have been hearing about from others that were also curious about it. In different prisons around the game (Lowangen, Templeton, Unseelie, Cavhfail, and Vospire) there are five ancient keys of benediction, that can only be used by a minotaur of at least 1200 years of age. In other words, no player fits this oddly specific qualification. These mysterious keys raise a number of questions. What do these keys open? What mob is required to use them, if any? And why is one of the cells in Tellerium prison blocked off, and how can we get in? The keys probably open the locked area in a cell in Tellerium prison, when given to Uny'yun the aged (a very old minotaur) who sits in one of the cells in Tellerium prison. The keys have a decay timer though, so recovering them all and returning them to the minotaur must be done quickly. Since many keys are needed for this, this miniquest will probably require group collaboration to complete. Uny'yun the aged used to be behind a locked door, and you could not get past the prison captain to see him. Since the institution of bloodline quests though, he has been moved into the cell and you can wander right in to see him and he will ask about the keys. *****A hunchbacked minotaur sags beneath the weight of his wrinkles and gnarled horns. 'Lantis, you must be the envoy from the wardens.' Uny'yun the aged says to you. 'You certainly took your sweet time getting here.' Who knows what rewards and secret knowledge come with solving this mini?! Templeton - Captive Brigand Lieutenant A few days ago I completed this run, but I forgot to post about it at the time. This mini quest is available to players level 120 to 180, and it rewards one, sometimes two, pieces of equipment that may be useful for a fourth classer. The mini quest starts in the sewers of Templeton. In the sewers there is a certain drainage pipe that has a hidden north room adjacent to it. Search in the drainage pipe to reveal it. When you go into the small room, there is a brigand lieutenant there.
Travel to the southeast corner of Templeton. Lord Templeton's tomb is inhabited by an old crusty bum. He has the ration that you will need for this mini on a rare repop. You may need to kill him multiple times, and you will probably not be able to solo him during third class. Once you have the ration from the crusty bum, go into Templeton Castle. Go downstairs and into the dungeon. On the west side of the dungeon, in the southwestern most cell you'll find a rogue brigand prisoner chained. You'll know this is the mob you are looking for because there is a bit about a crime syndicate in his description.
Give the ration to the rogue and he will join your form. Lead him out of the dungeons and down the guards hall, located on the southern end of the dungeon. It is okay to go right passed the castle guards in the dungeon. When you get to the end of the guards' hall, open the locked down with the key from the brigand lieutenant. The down leads to the sewers. Lead the rogue brigand back to the hidden small room where the lieutenant is. Upon arriving at the small room, the brigand lieutenant will take the rogue prisoner from you and reward you with a pair of lieutenant's gauntlet's and sometimes a pair of deerskin moccasins.
For all intents and purposes you have now completed this mini quest. Stick around for a moment more and you will get to hear the sounds of the brigand rogue being slaughtered by castle guards. Managed this mini tonight after several failed attempts. In Twin Moons Inn, a merchant asks you to bring him wine to go with his meal. Naturally you first try the glass of spiced wine that is sitting on the table in the common room, but that is not what he wants. He acts like you've tried to poison him and clarifies that he wants the special wine that the cook uses to flavor the dishes. So you must kill Cailin O'Tera, the cook, to get it. The hard part was finally killing Cailin O'Tera, the cook, which I did by druid webbing her, backstabbing her to 45% and then just throwing a lot of high explosive mixes at her. I also had to keep fleeing to druid heal so I could resume attacking and not give her a chance to regenerate hp. She was impervious to my blind mixes and druid blinding, and liked to cast poison, plague, and blind on me. I found it was easier to flee when she started casting rather than let her hit me. You take a crystal wine carafe from the corpse of Cailin O'Tera. You then hand the crystal wine carafe over to the merchant. He rewards you with a strange red fruit. Take the fruit to the Lonely Dragon Inn on the road between Rune and Xaventry. Give the strange red fruit to a halfling in the room that is guarded by a bouncer. This mini ultimately rewarded me 50k exp and 25k gold. Vospire - Cooks and Cockfighting This is a short mini in Vospire, and not very rewarding, but it is still a mini and so I report it here now. It begins in the castle kitchen, triggered by the cook. I triggered it on my second class alt, but I see no reason why it wouldn't trigger for anyone.
Then, proceed to main street in Vospire to visit the grocer for a chicken.
So, I went over to Alazia's Tavern to speak with her.
She reveals a hidden LPK room under the bar. It is a secret cock fighting ring. So go down and kill one of the roosters in the room. Once you had defeated the rooster, it leaves behind a bloody chicken carcass that you can take back to the cook.
Xaventry- Possible Religion Mini I was walking around
Xaventry with my weak, first class alt who is not following any
religion at the moment, when I triggered this: *A priestess of Ithrilis glances at you when you enter the room. 'Whatsherface...' a priestess of Ithrilis says to you. 'Please, help us. A made-up madman has infiltrated our temple, and stolen the tears of Ithrilis from the innermost shrine!' 'The uninitiated are not permitted to even lay eyes upon the drops, much less remove them!' a priestess of Ithrilis exclaims to you. 'I beg of you, find that man, and retrieve our tears!' I didn't get a chance to finish this since I got chased out of PK, but I am curious about it, and wondering if such a thing is in place for the other powers as well. Xaventry- Robotic Metallic Beasts I ran across this area a while ago while
I was scatter hunting in Xaventry. Inside the Druids Grove maze in
Xaventry, there is a cavern-y area that is accessible through a
walkthrough wall. You will need to go through the east side of the
maze, which has the dizzy rooms, to get to it. Once you enter this
area, you will see a 24-karat clockwork centaur standing before a
locked door. If you kill him, he will drop the key to the door. Behind
the door is a CPK room with another robotic mob and another locked
door. If you kill this mob and go through the door there is a third mob
and a third door. Finally, there is an obsidian cavern. Beyond this
point, there is a room in which it is possible to use a mechanism to
toggle the safe rooms in Dira and Ithrilis temples of Xaventry.
Probably only certain problematic ones, I'd think. You can also access
this room a different way from the other side of the druid maze, but
only if you are a low level. Additionally, the mob in the room with the mechanism must be dead to operate it. Random? - An Architecturally Perfect Fiction |
